The Brand Council stands by the fact that the professional practice of branding, correctly applied, contributes distinctive, sustainable, long-term, economic and social value to our nation. The Brand Council strives to develop its practice so that its value is known, understood and appreciated by all who support their future national agenda.

SAMRA's main objectives are: to promote and maintain professional standards in marketing research; to provide members with an educational, information and social forum for the enhancement and promotion of professionalism in marketing research; to represent the Southern African marketing research profession in the wider world, and to promote understanding of its contribution to a healthy society and economy.

AMASA as a voluntary body focuses on media education, organises monthly meetings in open forums to share knowledge relevant to the advertising and media industries, has a bursary plan for those wanting to enter the world of media and organises annual workshops for planners, strategists and advertisers at all levels. AMASA also organises an annual Golf Day for fundraising. The Roger Garlick Award is an AMASA initiative too.
